CREATIVE WORK: AMPHIBIOUS HOUSING SYSTEM
This house was designed to meet the increasing need for flood resilient housing systems. The numbers of homes being built on floodplains is increasing in order to satisfy the rising demand for new houses and therefore, more houses are at risk of flooding. It incorporates architectural and engineering techniques and takes into consideration the aesthetics of the chosen site located in Brisbane. By creating a system that mitigates the flood risk that is both workable and insurable, this encourages a more innovative set of solutions that can balance development needs with environmental changes in flooding.
ARCHITECTURE: "FALLING WATER", FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
Designed as a private residence and weekend home, Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" sits above a mountain cataract on a rocky hillside deep in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Integrating architecture into nature, As well as referencing the surrounding natural forms, Wright chose locally sourced sandstone to make up the body of the house, and a limited colour palette for the exterior to ensure that the property blended into its surroundings.
AN ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
This photograph was taken on my trip to Seoul, Korea at the beginning of this year. It's one of the most captivating and unique places that you could travel to. In my opinion, Korea is not a country of striking beauty that shocks you, especially if you have been to other places in Asia already. But it is, without any doubt, an interesting country. It is easy to see and appreciate traditional folk culture as well as the success of Kpop, a thriving movie industry, huge department stores, and business success everywhere. The juxtaposition between the modern and traditional is striking.
